Scholarships for Women

About the Scholarship
St. Anthony Hall was the first Yale society to accept women as members, after the College began accepting women, in 1969. The first woman to register at Yale College later became a member of St. Anthony Hall's first co-educational class.

The St. Anthony Hall Scholars Fellowship for Women at Yale was established by Saint Anthony Hall's alumni organization, in honor of Yale College's 1969 decision to admit women as undergraduates.

An original gift of approximately $100,000 currently provides partial tuition support for three women Yale undergraduates selected annually by the College, with grants of approximately $19,000 apiece. Yale administers these fellowships; applicants do not apply directly to the Hall. These scholarships are awarded by Yale without regard to St. A's membership.

A note from a 2006-2007 St. A's Scholarship awardee:

Dear Anthony Trust Association President:
I recently received a letter from the Student Financial Services Department here at Yale informing me that I had received the St. Anthony Hall Scholarship from the generosity of the Anthony Trust Association. I wanted to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude upon receiving this award and let you know how grateful I am for these scholarship funds. The generosity of your association has not gone unnoticed and I am truly thankful for your donation to the education of Yale students.

As my first year at Yale is coming to a close, I look back and cannot believe that this University has exceeded all my hopes and expectations. I have fallen in love with the classes, campus, faculty, and student body and truly cannot picture myself happier anywhere else. While I am not sure of my major yet, I have been dabbling in many different subject areas and broadening my horizons through many fascinating courses and topics. I have become an active member of campus as a (residential college name withheld) College Master's Aide, College Council Freshman Representative, Community Service Coordinator of the (philanthropic organization) and a participant in many of the countless opportunities Yale sponsors including the Relay for Life and the YCC Community Service Day. I know that these experiences are only a small taste of those yet to come in my remaining years here, as I'm sure you can attest to as a graduate. It is only through the generosity of scholarships like yours that I am able to take full advantage of all these opportunities. Once again, thank you very much for this award.

Yours truly, C. (name withheld), Yale Class of 2010
